Android Development verses iPhone Development

Now a days I am getting excited about android. I am planning to buy a new android set for me as well.
Only thing that bothers me is that development is happening in so much pace that mobile set manufacturers are always behind with latest version. Most exciting thing is that with each new version more and more exciting features are added over the phone which attracts more users to have an android phone/device.
